In the context of"dual carbon"goal,prefabricated building fits the national green development strategy and the development trend of the construction industry.How to control its cost efficiently and reasonably is crucial.Research on cost control was conducted throughout the life cycle of prefabricated building by applying Value Engi-neering.Firstly,the functional indexes and weights of prefabricated building were determined through analytic hier-archy process and a questionnaire survey on experts.Secondly,the cost of prefabricated building in its life cycle was analyzed and determined through literature research.Thirdly,the design scheme with perfect function and lowest cost was selected by calculating value index to achieve the purpose of cost control.Finally,taking the design stage of a project in Wuhan as an example,the calculation and analysis were carried out,which realizes the application of Value Engineering in cost control of actual engineering projects at design stage.
