Artificial intelligence(AI)is a leading strategic technology that drives technological revolutions and industrial transformations.The Central Economic Work Conference emphasized the importance of driving industrial innovation through technological innovation,particularly through the development of new industries,business models,and growth engines with disruptive and cutting-edge technologies.This includes fostering new quality productive forces(NQPFs)and accelerating the development of AI.In light of the intensifying global AI competition,China needs to develop a comprehensive top-level design for AI,systematically prioritize AI development areas,strengthen foundational and applied technology R&D,and build an AI innovation ecosystem.This involves promoting the integration of AI with foundational disciplines such as mathematics,physics,and brain science,and deepening AI applications across sectors including manufacturing,healthcare,and social governance.Concurrently,it is crucial to enhance AI ethics and regulations to prevent and mitigate the risks and challenges associated with AI.
