Investigation of Melt Rheological Properties of PET and PLA Blends
The compatibility and melt rheological properties of PET and PLA blends were studied. In particular, the compatibility of PET and PLA was fully investigated using DSC, and the melt rheological properties was analyzed by capillary rheometer at different temperatures and shear rates. The results show that firstly, PET and PLA possess compatibility to a certain extent, especially as the m(PLA)/m(PET) is lower than 20%. Secondly, the non-Newtonian index first increases with the increasing PLA content and then decreases, and the maximum appears when m(PLA)/m(PET) = 10%. The viscous flow activation energy decreases with the increasing PLA content in the blends. Thirdly, when m(PLA)/m(PET) = 10% , the blends have better spinnability.
