Kinetic Analysis for the Removal of Phosphorus onto Hydrotalcite by Adsorption
Hydrotalcite was prepared by the coprecipitation method. The adsorptive removal of phosphorus from aqueous solutions by calcined hydrotalcite was investigated in a batch mode. The influence of Mg/Al mole ratio, sorbent concentration and initial pH on the kinetics of phosphorus removal was tested in kinetic runs.Three kinetic models were used to fit the experimental data, and it was found that the pseudo-sencond-order kinetics model and Elovich model are most appropriate to describe the adsorption kinetics.n(Mg)/n(Al)=3 is the most ideal ratio of hydrotalcite. The more hydrotalcite we put,the slower the external diffusion of phosphorus is.Otherwise, the rise of pH in certain ranges can increase the adsorption rate and adsorption capacity.
