Formulation Design and Performance of MMA Two-component Marking Paint Based on Mixing Experiment Design
Considering the influence of the interaction between the components of the paints on the marking performance, the MMA two-component marking paints formulation was optimized by using the mixed experimental design(MED)method, based on the response surface analysis results given by Design-expert v13.0 software. The chemical structures of MMA resins after curing were confirmed by infrared spectra. The effects of BPO amount on no-pick-up time, the pencil hardness and color difference(ΔE)of paints were measured. The results showed that when 1.5%BPO was added, the best performance was obtained. The amounts of MMA resin, pigment and two kinds of fillers were taken as the experimental variables. The viscosity, whiteness, bond strength and color difference before and after UV aging were used as the response performance. The appropriate proposed models in the software were used to determine the optimal paints formulation. The results confirm the consistency between the prediction model and the experimental values, which indicates that the MED method is effective to optimize the formulation of marking paints.
