Effect of Copper Tailings with Different Sizes on Crystallization Properties of CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2 Glass-ceramics
Copper tailings with various particle sizes were melted to prepare CaO-MgO-Al2O3-SiO2(CMAS)glass ceramics.DSC,XRD,and SEM-EDS were used to examine the crystallization properties of glass ceramics.JMA equation was used to fit the crystallization kinetics features of glass ceramics, which were made from copper tailings with various particles. The various kinds and valence states of iron-bearing minerals in copper tailings have distinct effects on the crystallization of glass-ceramics.Fe2+-enriched minerals such as siderite, pyrite, and magnetite in copper tailings have no nucleation induction and promote the vitreous and intermediate phases. Therefore, the additional iron oxide of Fe3+has a stronger nucleation induction, and enhances the precipitation of the ferro-pyroxene crystal phase, increasing the characteristics of glass ceramics.
