Human capital's impact on green total factor productivity
Using panel data from 30 provinces in Chinese Mainland from 2007 to 2021,this paper uses ML index to measure green total factor productivity(GTFP),and empirically tests the direct and indirect effects and spatial effects of human capital on GTFP.Research has found that human capital has a U-shaped effect on local GTFP and an inverted U-shaped effect on GTFP in surrounding areas.Mechanism a-nalysis indicates that industrial structure upgrading plays a masking role in the effect of human capital on lo-cal GTFP,while pollution emission intensity plays a partial mediation role;In different industrial structure upgrading and emission intensity regions, the influence of human capital on GTFP has threshold effect. From a regional perspective, the spillover effects of human capital on GTFP show an inverted"U"shape, but the direct effects are heterogeneous. The direct effects on GTFP in the eastern region show a"U"shape, but the direct effects on GTFP in the central region show an inverted"U"shape, and the direct effects on GTFP in the western region are not significant. Therefore, efforts should be made to improve the level of human capital, guide the reasonable flow of talents and regional talent collaboration, improve its match with the industrial structure, and provide human capital guarantee for green production and technolog-ical progress.
