Research on the positional changes and driving factors of digital economy sectors from the perspective of domestic value chain
This paper measures the embedding of China's digital economy sector in the domestic value chain position from the dual perspectives of the output supply chain and the input demand chain. It also con-ducts a structural decomposition of the output upstreamness and input downstreamness to further reveal the driving factors behind the changes in the embedding of China's digital economy sector in the domestic value chain position. The following conclusions can be drawn.First, the overall upstreamness of output and down-streamness of input in the digital economy sector rankings remain stable and high, and there are significant differences in the domestic value chain positioning among classified major categories of digital economy sec-tor.Second,the results of structural decomposition reveal that the driving factors behind the overall changes in the domestic value chain positioning of the digital economy sector is undergoing a transition from"intra-industry effects"to"inter-industry effects".The decomposition results of the changes in the domestic val-ue chain positioning of different categories of digital economy sectors indicate that"intra-industry effects"are the main driving factors behind the changes in upstreamness of output and downstreamness of input.Third, further decomposition indicates that the intermediate supply network effect is the main reason for the decline in the domestic value chain position of the digital economy sector, while the value-added size effect is the main driving force behind the ascent of the domestic value chain position of the digital economy sector, although its driving force is clearly insufficient.
