Current Status and Trend of Metonymy Research at Home and Abroad Based on Knowledge Mapping Analysis of CiteSpace
Based on visual analysis of the metonymy research literature collected from the WOS and CNKI,the research status and trend of metonymy are investigated.Five major findings are obtained.Firstly,metonymy research has been developed deeply to some extent at home and abroad,but the influence of the domestic research output needs to be improved.Secondly,researchers who have few academic exchange and cooperation tend to conduct researches individually.Thirdly,research hotspots at home and abroad cover the noumenal research on metonymy,the relationships between metonymy and metaphor,and the application of metonymy to different language phenomena;but the hot topics explored by the scholars abroad are broa-der and diverse empirical research methodologies are employed.Fourthly,the evolutionary progress of research hot topics at home and abroad does not develop at the same pace.Lastly,research topics are broader abroad than that at home.All in all,there still exists much room for the further research of metonymy.
