Public Space Design for Intellectual Disability Care Institutions
Against the backdrop of high-quality development in the field of disability services, the construction standards of disability care institutions at all levels in China have been continuously improving, with an increasing variety of institution types. Disability care institutions are a primary form of social security for people with disabilities in China and constitute an important category of existing disability facilities. This study focused on the public spaces of intellectual disability care institutions. Based on the characteristics and needs of individuals with intellectual disabilities, factors influencing public space design were extracted through interviews, questionnaires, surveys, and other methods. This study aims to explore suitable design methods for public spaces in intellectual disability care institutions, providing a design basis for creating environments conducive to the physical and mental well-being of individuals in care institutions.
