A Review of Research on Barrier-Free Renovation of Living Spaces for People with Disabilities
As the issue of aging population in China becomes increasingly severe, the number of people with disabilities continues to rise. In the new era, China attaches greater importance to the construction of the disabled cause, and the design of accessible residential spaces is one of the important means to improve the living quality of the disabled. Starting with literature research on the accessibility improvement of home environments for the disabled both domestically and internationally, the development process of such accessibility improvement was presented, and the research direction, methods, and conclusions of academic literature and works on such design were comprehensively reviewed. At the same time, it is important to summarize the issues related to accessibility in the barrier-free renovation of living spaces for people with disabilities in China under the background of aging population and human-centered principles, along with future development trends. The goal is to advance the development of accessibility in China and enhance the well-being of people with disabilities.
