Exploration of Protection Paths of Ordinary Villages as a Historical and Cultural Heritage—A Case Study of Longmentai Village,Xiayunling Township,Fangshan District,Beijing
In recent years, strategies for rural revitalization have been promoted, drawing attention to the protection of famous historical and cultural villages and traditional villages, which have received all-round support from policies and funds. In contrast, ordinary villages, the majority of village types around the country, have been ignored to a great degree.A serious investigation found that many ordinary villages actually contain valuable regional and historical cultures that are indigenous to themselves and need to be further explored and reshaped. As such, this paper took villages in Beijing as a case study to explore the protection paths of ordinary villages as a cultural heritage.First, this paper analyzed the regional context and cultural features of the case village, refining the historical and cultural elements available for development. It then laid out the difficulties in the cultural protection and inheritance of ordinary villages.Lastly, this paper elaborated on the planning strategy for the protection of ordinary villages as a cultural heritage from six aspects:exploring rural characteristics, applying planning means to retain original villages, searching for adaptive reuse of rural heritages, strengthening publicity to enhance cultural identity, establishing a cultural system, and building up a long-term management and protection mechanism.
