The urban waterfront area is one of the urban spaces with the most prominent comprehensive value. However, due to the high-speed construction and the excessive pursuit of economic values of the land resource, the value of many waterfront areas has not been fully recognized and released, which is manifested in an absent overall awareness leading to the separation of the city and the water,a poor ecological awareness leading to shoreline channelization,an absence of humanistic characteristics leading to inadequate vitality, and so forth.Given that, based on the cognitive analysis of the multiple values of the urban waterfront space and the successful experience of waterfront construction at home and abroad, this paper took the planning of Qingshuijiang Park in Duyun,Guizhou as an example to explore planning strategies for the waterfront new area under the orientation of multiple values from five aspects:ecology of a priority, rational development, stimulation of vitality, shaping of features, and sequence of development, hoping to provide references for the development and construction of the urban waterfront space.
