Structural Impact Analysis of Opening Holes in Shear Walls of a High-Rise Residential Building
A high-rise residential building consists of a reinforced concrete partially frame-supported shear wall structure with 3 underground levels and 28 above-ground levels. After the completion and acceptance of the building, for the convenience of future use,the developer and the owner decided to create door openings in the reinforced concrete shear walls on levels 6 to 26. Based on site investigations and measurement results, this paper analyzes the structural impact of these openings in the shear walls. The results indicate that reinforcement measures for the shear walls with openings are necessary to ensure the safe use of the building.
