Geometric Composition Analysis of Planar Structures Using Generalized Chain Bars
Components with rigid segments connected to other parts of the system through hinged constraints at both ends can be considered as generalized link bars. This paper summarizes three common types of structural components in engineering:rigid segment-to-rigid segment, rigid segment-to-foundation,and composite generalized link bars. It proposes a transformation model between generalized link bars and virtual hinges. The reliability of the geometric composition analysis of structures using generalized link bars is verified through example calculations. Generalized link bars, especially composite generalized link bars, combined with methods such as equivalent substitution and support translation, can greatly simplify complex member systems, effectively expand the types of structures analyzed using simple rules, and enrich their application scope. This provides new ideas for the analysis of geometric composition in planar systems.
