Structural Safety Appraisal and Seismic Performance Evaluation of a Multi-story Factory Building Prior to Renovation
This paper systematically appraises and evaluates the structural safety and seismic performance of a multi-story factory building prior to renovation.Through on-site inspections and analysis of as-built drawings,a corresponding model is established to conduct in-depth research on the structural bearing capacity and seismic performance of the factory building. The building is a frame-shear wall structure with two underground floors and three above-ground floors, having a total height of 18.50 m.It has a design service life of 50 years,is classified as Category C for seismic fortification, and is designed to withstand an earthquake intensity of 6 degrees.On-site investigations reveal that the factory building is currently unoccupied and exhibits no visible signs of settlement or cracks. The inspection of the foundation and upper main structure indicates that the concrete strength and member dimensions meet design requirements, but the reinforcement arrangement of some members does not comply with specifications. The results of calculations and analyses for structural bearing capacity and seismic resistance reveal that both meet the requirements, but seismic measures for individual members need reinforcement.Ultimately, the appraisal results classify the safety level of the factory building as Bsu,providing technical support for subsequent renovation and reinforcement work.
