From Tao Xingzhi's "Saving the Nation by Education" to the New Era's Strengthening the Country through Education:the Historical Mission and Responsibility of Education in Different Times
Education is an important cornerstone for the revitalization of the nation and social progress,shoul-dering different responsibilities and missions in different times. In order to save the country,the educators re-presented by Tao Xingzhi started the movement of "saving the nation by education" in modern China. In the new era,the social function of education was born and changed according to the time. Tao Xingzhi hoped to change the society and save the country through education by reforming the rural education,establishing the life education system,and promoting the popularization of science education. In the new historical conditions,it is needed to develop the country by teaching,to educate people,to educate talents,and to establish the world by teaching,so as to establish a strong educational country and help the great rejuvenation of the Chi-nese nation. Analyzing the idea of "education to save the country" represented by Tao Xingzhi is of great sig-nificance for the construction of a strong education country in the new era.
