Analysis on molecular biology and clinical pathological characteristics in patients with left and right hemicolon cancer
Objective To compare the results of the next generation sequencing gene testing and clini-copathological characteristics in the patients with left hemicolon cancer(LCC)and right hemicolon cancer(RCC).Methods The next generation sequencing gene testing results and clinical pathological data of 335 pa-tients with colon cancer in the Molecular Diagnosis Center of this hospital from January 2022 to June 2023 were collected retrospectively. The molecular biological and clinical characteristics of LCC and RCC were ana-lyzed.Results Among 335 patients,263 cases were LCC and 72 cases were RCC.The proportions of tumors maximal diameter ≥5 cm,gene mutation rates of BRAF,PTEN,PIK3CA and SMAD4,and microsatellite in-stability-high(MSI)in the patients with RCC were higher than those in the patients with LCC(44.44%vs.14.83%,8.33%vs.3.04%,12.50%vs.3.80%,26.39%vs.10.65%,16.90%vs.9.47%,13.89%vs.1.52%,P<0.05),the TP53 gene mutation rate was lower(66.67%vs.82.51%),and the differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusion There are differences in molecular biology and pathological characteristics between the patients with LCC and the patient with RCC.
