A Study of News on Japan's Contaminated Wastewater Release in China Daily from the Perspective of Proximization
Proximization theory is one of the latest theoretical achievements in critical cognitive linguistics.Taking the news about Japan's nuclear wastewater discharge from China Daily as the corpus,a small self-built corpus is established to conduct a proximization analysis on the spatial, temporal and value axes. The research results show that in the 25 reports of China Daily on Japan's nuclear wastewater discharge, the use of spatial, temporal and value proximization strategies is unbalanced.Among them, the spatial proximization strategy is the main one, while the temporal and value proximization strategies are secondary. They jointly construct a crisis discourse with a large number of peripheral entities,a high degree of threat and a long latent period, aiming to call on internal entities to take defensive measures as soon as possible to reduce the negative impact brought by peripheral entities.
