Groundwater seepage field and water inflow simulation calculation for an underground water sealing petroleum storage cavern
The underground water sealing petroleum storage cavern is built underground by manual excavation, which stores oil by using stable groundwater water sealing effect. It has the advantages of less land occupation, less investment and less loss, but has relatively greater influence on the groundwater environment. In order to assess the groundwater environmental impact of an underground water sealing petroleum storage cavern during the construction period and the operation period, the heterogeneity, anisotropy and three-dimensional unsteady groundwater flow model is established by using GMS software and in-situ test data in the engineering background of a large water sealing petroleum storage caverns in China. The results show that the predicted water level is over 3 meters above the design water level with the water curtain system, which ensures the water sealing effect of the cav-ern, and oil is limited to the surrounding area of the cave and does not leak out. The study provides a basis for the development of groundwater pollution prevention measures and long-term monitoring plans in the later period.
