Study on the Interwoven Pattern,Integration Efficiency, and Planning Strategies of"City-Village-Fields"Land Use in Peri-Urban Areas:The Case of Hainan Province
Peri-urban areas play a crucial role in achieving high-quality urbanization, and the optimal organization of urban, rural, and agricultural-ecological land uses sig-nificantly impacts overall development. While recent years have seen increased re-search on urban-rural interface, there remains a lack of systematic analysis of the in-terwoven patterns of urban, rural, and agricultural-ecological land.To address the gap, this paper identifies 295 community/village units across 19 major urban areas of Hainan Island, each exhibiting a combination of urban, rural, and agricultural-ecological land-use types. The study investigates three key areas.First,it examines the characteristics of land layout patterns, categorizing them into three types:com-partmentalization,interaction,and integration.Second,It analyzes the efficiency of land patterns, revealing that high efficiency uses are concentrated in highly urbanized areas such as Haikou and Sanya,as well as in regions along rivers or near cities. In highly urbanized area, transport connection and energy control issues hinder land-use efficiency, while in less urbanized areas, level of economic development and ac-cess to public facilities constrain efficiency.Third, the paper proposes strategies to optimize interwoven urban and rural land-use patterns. It advocates for building an integrated planning technology system with a focus on unit planning, village plan-ning,and land consolidation planning according to local conditions.
