Analysis of the Impact of Aircraft Lubrication Work on Flight Safety—Taking the"Alaska Air Crash"as an Example
This article introduces the relationship between lubrication maintenance and flight safety, the optimal lubrication operation period determination method, the composition and working principle of the horizontal tail balance adjustment system of the MD-83 aircraft, and explains the process of the air crash caused by the extended lubrication operation period and insufficient lubrication. The article also provides a detailed analysis of the causes of the air crash. The analysis results indicate that Alaska Airlines extended the lubrication and maintenance cycle of the telescopic screw, violated lubrication and maintenance procedures, and was the main cause of this air crash. The captain's human error in emergency response was a secondary cause. Finally, four preventive measures are proposed to ensure flight safety.
