Application of Historical Aerial Imagery Data in Urban Expansion Analysis
Addressing the safety hazards and inconveniences associated with the storage of historical aerial photographs on film media, this paper presents a digital processing method for historical aerial photographs lacking POS information. The method's feasibility was confirmed through precision verification, effectively resolving the issue of digitizing aerial photographs for preservation. The final results were applied to the analysis of urban expansion in the Yaozhou District of Tongchuan City.By examining the rates and intensity coefficients of expansion, the study revealed the spatial development changes of the city across different time periods, compensating for the lack of early-stage urban devel-opment imagery. This comprehensive and clear presentation of the entire trajectory of urban development serves as a reference for improved land resource management, urban surveying, and natural resource monitoring.
