The transformation of knowledge production mode has spurred the development of new accelerated research universities, in the past half century, a number of new re-search universities have been created globally. The cam-pus planning overview of eight representative research universities abroad are imtroduced, characteristics in campus space are analyzed and sunmmarized: intensive campus layout, composite campus functions, integrated innovation space, personalized campus architecture, and community-based campus context.
