The external environment of historical buildings are evaluated and studied from the perspective of protection of historical and cultural cities.The index system and evaluation criteria are constructed,18 bottom indicators are designed from 5 aspects using the analytic hierar-chy process,including historical style,site traffic,land-scape greening,physical environment and management maintenance,to establish the scientific and systematic evaluation system for the external environment of his-torical buildings.Taking 3 typical historical buildings in Shanxi as examples,the fuzzy evaluation method is used to evaluate their external environment,to obtain quantitative evaluation results and clarify the key prob-lems that need to be solved urgently.Based on this,corresponding improvement strategies are proposed to achieve the protection,restoration and renewal of the external environment of historical buildings.
