Primary survey on bird diversity at urbanized area and suburb in Chuxiong city during spring and winter
To elucidate the variation on bird diversity between urban area and suburb in Chux- iong during spring and winter, point count method was used in 17 sample points within 4 sample plots. 2808 individuals were recorded which belong to 4 ords, 16 families, and 44 species, and pas- seriformes counted for 88.64%, others counted for 11.36%. The result indicated that the suburban had more complex bird community structure in terms of higher species richness (33, 27 vs 18, 16) , higher species diversity (Shannon' s index 2.21, 2.43 vs 2.12, 2.00), higher evenness (0,68, 0,75 vs 0.74, 0.69 ) , higher family and genus diversity ( G - index 3.06, 2.92 vs 2.63,2.39 and F - index 6.12, 3.64 vs 1.48, 0.95) as compared to urban habitat, but the abundance had be converse.
