Advances in Molecular Genetic Manipulation Techniques in the Silkworm,Bombyx mori
Molecular genetic manipulation in silkworms serves as a crucial platform for identifying gene functions,advancing molecular breeding,and innovating material development.It plays an essential role in promoting the establishment of the silkworm as a model organism,integrating sericulture research more deeply into life sciences,and supporting the continuous growth of the traditional silk industry.In recent years,there have been significant advancements in silkworm molecular genetic manipulation techniques,including transgenic technology,genome-targeted editing,spatio-temporal specific expression systems,and other auxiliary molecular tools.These techniques have been widely applied and developed,yielding im-portant breakthroughs in various fields such as agriculture,textiles,medicine,and materials science.This review summarizes the establishment,current developments,and challenges of silkworm molecular genet-ic manipulation techniques,aiming to provide insights and guidance for furthering their application in mod-ern silkworm molecular breeding research.
