Study on the alfalfa cultivation in the young poplar growing Medicago sativa
The effect of growing alfalfa in the marginal land of young poplar land was studied and the result indicated that it could control the soil and water erosion and provide feeds for livestock. The income of farmers raising pigs could be increased by 5164 Yuan RMB. For those raising sheep or goose, it was 630 or 999 Yuan RMB respectively. For poplar growth, the average height, girth and diameter at ground level in 2005 were increased by 258. 56% ,252. 54% and 252.13% respectively compared with those in 2003. And they were increased by 53. 43%,63. 91% and 63. 86% compared with those in 2004.
