Impact of shading on photosynthesis and growth of Stylosanthes guianensis cv.Reyan No.10
The impact of shading degrees (0.50% and 75%) and shading duration (60 and 120 days) on photosynthesis and growth of Stylosanthes guianensis cv, Reyan No. 10. The results showed that short time (60 days) shading decreased the rate of photosynthesis and transpiration, biomass and root/stem ratio. The water use efficiency (WUE) and water content of leaf increased and the chlorophyll content changed significantly (P< 0. 05) by 75% of shading. Long time (120 d) shading decreased the content of total chlorophyll under 75% of shading. The plant height and tiller number were significantly(P<0. 05) decreased by shading, but the water content of plant was not significantly increased under shading condition.
