The soil available nutrients and salt content of Bianwan farm located in Jiuquan were analyzed in this paper and the results showed that the soil salinization at Bianwan farm was extremely severe, most of the lands could not be used as cropland; The content of the available nitrogen was very low, which varied from 10.68 g/kg(No.6 plot) to 27.53 g/kg(No.2 plot),and the nitrogen fertilizer should be used before sowing; The content of the available phosphorus was also very low varying from 19.85 mg/kg(No.2 plot) to 33.01 mg/kg (No.3 plot) and the phosphorus fertilizer should be used according to the forage being planted; The soil contained large amount of available potassium varying from 905.77 mg/kg(No.2 plot) to 175.06 mg/kg(No.6 plot),which meets the soil characteristic of the northwestern area of China. In conclusion, those areas contained more nutrients and less salt in the soil could be used as the farmland and the others should be improved firstly or used in other ways.
