Analysis of vegetation cover change and itsdriving forces in the Shendong mining area usingmulti-source remote sensing data fusion
[Objective]To reveal the characteristics and evolution mechanism of vegetation cover change over along time series in Shendong mining area, which is crucial for ecological restoration and sustainable development of the region.[Method]In this study, the STARFM method was used to integrate Landsat and MODIS data to con-struct a long time series nuclear Normalized Vegetation index (kNDVI) data of Shendong mining area from 2000 to 2022. The change trend of kNDVI was analyzed, and the driving mechanisms behind vegetation cover changes were explored using partial correlation analysis and a geographic detector model.[Result]The results showed that:1) There was a strong correlation between annual kNDVI and annual kNDVI images based on the fusion of STARFM method (R²=0.864),indicating that the accuracy of the fusedLandsat images was high. 2) From 2000 to 2022,the vegetation in Shendang Mining area showed a significant improvement trend, with 90.36% of the area exhibiting marked improvement. 3) Land use type emerged asthe most important driving factor affecting vegetation coverage in the Shendong mining area;Additionally, the influence of meteorological factors on kNDVI initially increased and then weakened over time.[Conclusion]The findings of this research can provide a scientific basis for constructing sustain-able and green mining practices.
