Study on effect of alkali treatment on properties of waste polyester fabric/hemp stalk composite material
In order to solve the problem of poor interfacial compatibility between hemp stalk powders and hydrophobic polymer matrix, the hemp stalks were alkalized with 8%(mass fraction)NaOH solution as modifier, and then the waste polyester fabric/hemp stalk composite material was prepared. The properties of composite materials were studied through mechanical property testing, combining with scanning electron microscopy(SEM),X-ray diffraction(XRD)and differential scanning calorimetry(DSC)technical means. The results showed that after alkali treatment of hemp stalks, the surface of hemp stalk powders was etched, the roughness increased, the non-cellulose component dissolved, and the binding force between powders and matrix increased. The bending strength of comparing with the waste polyester fabric/hemp stalk composites prepared without alkali treatment, the bending strength of the composite prepared with alkali treatment increased by 25.0%,and the internal bonding strength increased by 29.7%.The glass transition temperature and crystallization temperature increased from 71.2℃and 216.5℃to 79.1℃and 220.7℃,respectively.And the interfacial compatibility was improved.Crystallinity decreased.
