Thermal protection performance of PBO fiber/Meta-aramid blended spunlace felt
Three groups of poly(p-phenyl benzoxazole)(PBO) fiber/Meta-aramid blended spunlaced felts were designed and prepared as thermal insulation fabrics. The mass ratios of PBO fiber to Meta-aramid were 10/90, 20/80 and 30/70, respectively. The performance of the prepared PBO fiber/Meta-aramid blended spunlaced felts was tested and compared with commercially available conventional aramid thermal insulation spunlaced felts (mass ratio of Para-aramid to Meta-aramid was 20/80). The thermal protection performance and practical potential of PBO fiber/Meta-aramid blended spunlaced felts with different blending ratios were investigated. The results indicated that the three groups of PBO fiber/Meta-aramid blended spunlaced felts showed excellent thermal protection effect, and the high thermal conductivity of PBO fiber did not reduce the thermal protection performance of the combination of fire fighting suits. Among them, blended spunlace felts with the mass ratio of PBO fiber to Meta-aramid of 20/80 showed the best thermal protection performance.
