Poly-dispersed aerosol filtration performance of wet-laid glass-fiber filter papers:comparison and analysis
Lots of work focus on the breath protection filters, however, the particle size distribution of poly-dispersed aerosol used in standard aerosol filtration testing and the fractional filtration characteristics of filters have not been reported.Wet-laid glass-fiber filter papers with 3 different grades were selected, and their structural factors were tested. The particle size distribution of NaCl aerosol and paraffin oil aerosol was characterized by PMFT 1000 filter tester. The number filtration efficiency, pressure drop, fractional filtration efficiency and mass filtration efficiency were also measured.Control tests were conducted using 8130A filter tester. It shows that the higher-grade wet-laid glass-fiber filter paper exhibits higher fractional filtration efficiency at the full detected particle size range. The correlation between the most penetrating particle size and the filter paper structure is low.The fractional filtration efficiency and mass filtration efficiency indicators provide a more comprehensive evaluation of breath protection filters.
