Getting into the Flow:Design Shift in the Era of Artificial Intelligence
The emergence of artificial intelligence has intensified the transformation of society from a stable and orderly structure to a dynamic and fluid form,making the"fluidity"attribute in design increasingly evident.Throughout the development of design,several concepts related to"flow"have emerged:the various design schools that emerged during the Arts and Crafts movement,the assembly lines that increased production efficiency during the Industrial Revolution,the traffic of the intelligent era that connects social networks,and the AIGC workflows that are reshaping the design process.Flow and information flow have become the basic units rooted in modern society.This paper explores the shift towards fluidity in design in the era of artificial intelligence,under whose influence,design objects are iterating,circulating from the quantization of objects to the objectification of numbers;the design chain is restructured,shifting from a unidirectional design chain to a design flow that starts from any point;the design field is merging,from the physical domain to a freely flowing mixed field of virtual and real.Faced with the arrival of the technological singularity,design can no longer ignore the tremendous impact brought by artificial intelligence.Today's design needs to be rethought under the fluidity impact brought by artificial intelligence.
