德裔英国设计史家尼古拉斯·佩夫斯纳的名著《现代设计的先驱者:从威廉·莫里斯到沃尔特·格罗皮乌斯》,首次出版于1936年.尽管该书出版至今已逾80多年,但其对现代主义设计发展趋势的精致分析与演绎仍然一直影响直至今日.该书作为现代设计史研究的奠基之作对于今天的设计史研究而言,不仅是其对推动设计史成为学科的历史作用.该书即使放在今天来看,从其早期的创新性乃至日后所产生的各种反思性,对当前的世界设计史乃至中国的设计史研究和发展依然具有有益的带动作用与启迪价值.
Abstract
The famous book Pioneers of Modern Design:From William Morris to Walter Gropius by the German-British design historian Nikolaus Pevsner was first published in 1936.Although the book was published more than 80 years ago,its exquisite analysis and interpretation of the development trends of modernist design still have an influence to this day.As the foundation of modern design history research,this book not only plays a historical role in promoting design history as a discipline for today's design history research.Looking at the book today,from its early innovation to the various reflections it generated in the future,it still played an important role in promoting and stimulating the subsequent development of design history studies of China and the world.
