Research on the Strength and Failure Mechanism of Self-compacting Concrete Reinforced with Glass and Carbon Fiber
Water cement ratio and mechanical properties of self-compacting concrete were tested before and after glass fiber and carbon fiber reinforcement. The experimental results show that the water cement ra-tio increases after adding fibers to ensure working performance.Due to the hydrophobicity of carbon fibers, the higher the content of carbon fibers, the higher the water cement ratio will be.In the early stages of con-crete curing(3-7 days),the addition of glass fiber can improve the compressive and flexural strength of concrete compared with the absence of fiber. But the addition of carbon fiber can cause an increase in the water cement ratio, which resulted in a large number of pore structures inside the concrete and reduced the mechanical properties of the concrete.Through digital image correlation,it can be observed that the flexural failure form is tensile failure at the bottom of the specimen. At the same time, fiber addition can effectively improve the ratio of flexural strength to compressive strength of concrete specimens, but the discreteness of the test data of the flexural strength is greater.
