Translation of Chinese Words with Political Features from the Perspective of Skopos Theory——Report on the 20th CPC National Congress as an Example
This paper explores words with Chinese political features in political documents translation.It is based on the Report on the 20th CPC National Congress reports guided by Skopos theory.By analyzing the different characteristics of political vocabulary in the original text,this paper explains the different situations of translating Chinese political characteristic vocabulary from the perspective of Skopos theory.Research has found that political words are unique,cultural,contemporary,general,and popular.There are five translation methods for the different vocabulary characteristics mentioned above:literal translation,free translation,amplification,explanation,and literal translation with annotations.From the perspective of Skopos theory,different translation methods are adopted according to different political characteristic vocabulary.
