Learning community plays a crucial role in enhancing the social and emotional competence of higher vocational college students.On the basis of clarifying the connotation and characteristics of learning communities,this paper analyzes the clas-sification and distinctive features of learning communities in higher vocational colleges,and elucidates the inherent mecha-nisms of learning communities to facilitate the development of social and emotional competence of higher vocational college students.For the practice of higher vocational college students participating in the learning communities to improve their so-cial and emotional competence,some countermeasures and recommendations are given from aspects of school organization and management,teachers'roles and support,and students'autonomous participation in collaborative learning.
