With the advent of the digital intelligence era,the first-level discipline"Library and Information Science and Archives Management"has been renamed as"Information Resources Management".This renaming will bring new opportunities to archival science,effectively broaden its connotation and extension.However,it also faces crises such as the disappearance of professional characteristics and weakening of academic status.The quantity and quality of students majoring in archival science are the lifeline and essential requirements for the long-term development of the discipline,which requires improving the professional identity of archival science.This paper reviews the first-level discipline attribution of archival science and explores the advantages of rebranding in enhancing professional recognition.It suggests a pathway to professional identity that encompasses reinforcing fundamentals for societal recognition,upholding integrity and fostering innovation for industry recognition,and adopting student-centered strategies for student identification.
