Traditional methods of digitally preserving documentary heritage have faced challenges such as limited research on digital dissemination and inheritance,as well as a lack of relevant theoretical support. In response to these issues,a new methodological framework for the digital communication of documentary heritage has been proposed in this article, drawing on information space theory. This framework analyzes the digital communication characteristics of documentary heritage within a three-dimensional space encompassing encoding, abstraction, and diffusion,as well as within four typical areas:fief, clan, bureaucracy, and market.By examining these characteristics, the article aims to provide guidance for dissemination planning in the digital realm. The article delves into the digital communication chain, which involves the digitization of documentary heritage, the description and semantic organization of documentary heritage resources, and the effective communication of these resources.Through this process, the dynamic cycle and innovation of digital communication are realized, moving from the fief area to the clan area, bureaucratic area, and ultimately to the market area.
