Abiding by the Principle of Provenance on the Collation of Contract Files in the Ming and Qing Dynasties:Value,Predicament and Solution
From the relevant results of the collation of contract files in the Ming and Qing dynasties,the discussion on the methods of collation focuses on the way of"Gui Hu".The principle of provenance,as an important principle,was not paid high attention to during the collation.The core thinking of the principle of provenance is that archives should be arranged and classified by the provenance,the archives coming from the same provenance should't be divided,the archives coming from the different provenance should't be mixed together.Abiding by the principle of provenance is valuable on the guarantee of the integrity and maintaining the original arrangement methods.In the practice,abiding by the principle of provenance also faces some problems,such as damaged integrity and relevance of the contract files on the front-end,the difficulty on tracing sourcing-information,the information loss during the collation and publication and so on.In order to break through the predicament,some measures should be taken to keep the original appearance of the contract files and the original arrangement system,and do more researches to supplement the information related to the contract file integrity and relevance.
