Covering and Training:A Reexamination of the Feminization of the Archival Profession
It is an existing phenomenon that the proportion of women in archival profession is higher, but the"feminization"of archival profession is the assertion based on the phenomenon.Tracing the origin of this assertion,it can be found that there are some problems such as different standards and logical presupposition. In addition, the strengthening of this assertion has obscured the problems of vertical gender segregation and"sticky floor effect"in archival profession.Further examining the above phenomena and assertion,it can be found that gender essentialism and occupational stereotype have disciplined practitioners and researchers, therefore the constructed"feminine characteristics of archival profession"need to be corrected. In the future, discussions of archival profession should advocate"de-genderization",which is not only conducive to the absorption of diversified talent in archival profession, but also helps to realize the focus on the individual quality of archivists and the whole team, and build a gender-equal professional culture,so as to promote the healthy development of the archival profession and female employment.
