Analysis on the Driving Forces of Archival Resource Aggregation in Digital Humanities Projects:Taking the Global Shakespeare Project as an Example
Digital humanities projects should be based on multiple resources aggregation in order to promote academic research and cultural exchange. The Global Shakespeare Project carried out by Massachusetts Institute of Technology(MIT)in the United States is quite representative in terms of the results archived at the level of resource aggregation.Taking it as an example, this paper analyzes the reasons and measures for its resource aggregation, and explores the driving mechanism of resource aggregation in the design and implementation phases of the project from the three dimensions:organizational influence, data control, and service support. On this basis, this paper further suggests that the Global Shakespeare Project can shed light on the source of the drive for archival resource aggregation, the enhancement of the drive for archival resource aggregation, and the expansion of the drive for archival resource aggregation.
