As a high technology, feature recognition from scanned map is an effective way to eliminate the bottleneck of digitizing traditional map when spatial attribute database of GIS is established. At present,a great deal of studies focus on the topographic map scanning and recognition, this paper discusses this technology in - depth by using marine chart as source data.
