A Brief Analysis on Design and Compilation of Active Service-oriented Thematic Maps:Taking Situation Map of the Northern Indian Ocean as an Example
Maps are important medium to recognize geographic space for readers. Active service-oriented thematic maps are maps that cartographers grasp the reader's focus in advance and provide readers with concerns information and the extended content of concerns in the form of special topics to expand readers' geographic recognition. It overcomes the shortcomings of geospatial cognition represen-tation of traditional maps limited by map medium, load capacity and other factors. On taking Situation Map of the Northern Indian O-cean as an example, the paper explores the design and compilation methods of the form of map, which can provide appropriate decision-making service for map readers to better understand the geographic space in local area.
