In this paper, a study on evaluation and analysis for agricultural land suitability in Luxi county of Yunnan province has been done by using GIS spatial analysis and principal component analysis. The evaluation factors and their impact degree (membership de-gree) for the suitability of agricultural land in the county have been determined, and suitability evaluation indicators and classification systems have been established. The suitability level of agricultural land has been divided, and an agricultural suitability level map has been compiled to provide a basis for scientific planning, rational utilization, effective protection of land resources, and promotion of sustainable development.
