Study on Failure Process of a Rockfill Dam with Extra Height and Risk Control of Cascade Reservoir Group Downstream
Safe operation of reservoir dams is crucial for the safety of people's lives and property and social stability. The DB-IWHR model is used to simulate the flood process of a special high rockfill dam break due to flood exceeding the designed level, failure of spillway structures, safety incidents, etc.Evolution of dam break flood due to safety incidents is simulated using HEC-RAS software, and impact of lower water level with advance risk warning is analyzed. The research results show that lower water level is conducive to reducing the flood peak and volume of the dam failure, and the cascade reservoir group can effectively weaken and block the upstream dam failure risk by releasing water from the reservoir in advance. The reservoir regulation performance, dam body resistance to risk, etc.are important factors to be considered in the cascade reservoir group layout aimed at reducing the systemic risk of the river basin.
