Discussion on Primary Frequency Control Parameters during Variable Head Operation of Hydroelectric Units
To meet the requirements of local power grid regulations for primary frequency regulation assessment of hydropower units, this paper takes a hydropower station in northwest China as an example to analyze the response characteristics and setting parameters of primary frequency regulation of hydropower units under variable head conditions.A frequency modulation simulation test was conducted under different water head conditions. The results show that the response characteristics of primary frequency regulation with fixed control parameters cannot all meet the requirements of the assessment standards, especially the characteristic indicators in the large frequency difference disturbance are more evaluated. Therefore,it is necessary to adjust the corresponding optimal control parameters based on the head changes of the water turbine operation in order to achieve good primary frequency regulation effect and reduce the assessment rate of the primary frequency regulation of the hydropower plant governor under variable head conditions.
