Family Practice and Comparison of Rural County Urbanization from a Regional Perspective——Based on Research in Southern Jiangsu and Southern Henan in China
The investigation of county urbanization needs to pay attention to the active adaptation of farmers to urbanization based on their families in different region. By examining the county urbanization of farmers in Southern Jiangsu and Southern Henan, it was found that there are significant differences. The practice logic of"integration"has emerged in the Southern Jiangsu region. It means that the young farmers are driven to the modern urban production and living system in order to develop their own career development and pursuit the modern urban lifestyles, relying on abundant intergenerational family accumulation. While a transitional form of urbanization is displayed in the Southern Henan region. Young farmers mainly enter cities passively due to the needs of marriage and offspring education. Due to insufficient intergenerational accumulation in families, only few members are able to maintain urbanization, while their life is still rooted in the rural value and social communication network. The urbanization of farmers is mainly driven by the dual effects of economic and social forces, and the combination of these two forces is the underlying reason for shaping the logic of urbanization in different counties. These findings not only indicate that the unique family cultural ethics are the deep internal cause of China's rapid urbanization, but also remind policy to pay attention to the risks faced by transitional county urbanization in Central and Western China.
